I don't have a daughter, but I can tell you my own story as one who basically parented myself without knowing what autism was or that I had it. Not understood, not accepted, pretty much unsupported throughout life. Diagnosed at 55. From my vantage point:

1. I'm glad kids today are getting the benefit of research and support, but I see none of that happening yet for adults with autism.

2. after all is said and done, I can finally say I feel blessed to be who I am. I am and have always been gifted.
